Improve Your Videography
Skills

Are you looking for digital video training courses? It can be very useful to attend these courses. You see, as a novice to the craft of video, you tend to learn things on your own or through friends.

Getting formal certification or coursework done in videography is a very different thing and has several advantages.

I've written about how to shoot good videos before, but if you want to sell your videography skills as a professional, having a certification will certainly help business. You will also be more confident in your shots and editing.

Let's take a look at digital video training courses and why they make sense.

The first question you might ask is - what are the various digital video training courses available to me? Well, there are plenty! I'll name a few that I think are essential for the novice to attend.

2. Videography Courses

These courses teach you the entire process of video creation - from pre-production, production, through to post-production work.

  • Pre-production includes things like script writing, storyboarding, assembling your crew, etc.
  • Production work includes going on location to actually shoot the video, video and camera techniques and also lighting, microphones, sound, etc.
  • Post-production involves digital video editing, authoring and burning your output video into a DVD or uploading it online. These are very good courses to take to help you get an overview of film and movie making.

3. Digital Video Editing Courses

Another type of digital video training course you should consider attending is a digital video editing program. In these, you learn specifics of a software used to edit video.

One course that comes to mind is Adobe Premiere Pro, which is sort of the industry standard when it comes to video editing. Master it, and you immediately up your ante in terms of your credibility to your clients and your employer.

For other programs like Corel VideoStudio, Adobe Premiere Elements, Cyberlink PowerDirector, you can of course learn them on your own. Even for these, it might be useful to join an online forum of sorts to share knowledge and ideas with others.

4. Film School

There are also degree programs in filmmaking that you can attend. Many of the professional film makers attend these digital video training programs to enhance their capabilities and standing in the industry.

The New York Film Academy offers a professional filmmaking degree

You can check out programs in the US or UK - many good film schools exist and they teach you the specifics of how to structure and shoot film. Most of them also go into filmmaking history and the business / legal aspects of shooting film.

I hope the above has give you good insight into the various digital video training courses available to you. If you want to get serious about digital video, you can attend one of these courses to up your skill set and become much better at your craft.
